    IEC Chesapeake recently announced the approval of the online apprenticeship program with self-paced training District of Columbia Apprenticeship Council. The electrical apprenticeship program is a combination of online instruction and on-the-job training over a four-year period. The program is designed to provide apprentices with the necessary theory and practical training to earn the status of electrician.

    To complete the program, students must attend 144 hours per year of online instruction and a total of 576 hours, as well as 2,000 hours of documented on-the-job training and a total of 8,000 hours over the four-year period. At the end of training, the apprentice receives a Certificate of Completion from the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship. Students who are interested in taking the online courses must be at least 45 miles away from nearest classroom training site available and have approval from their employer to participate in this live online apprenticeship program.
