EMCOR Group recently named No. 1 World’s Most Admired Company by Fortune magazine for 2010

Norwalk, Conn.-based EMCOR Group, Inc. was recently named the No. 1 World’s Most Admired Company in the Engineering and Construction Industry by Fortune magazine for 2010. This marks the third consecutive year the company has received this recognition.

Active in social responsibility efforts, EMCOR’s “Touching Lives” corporate responsibility program includes the “Taking KidSafety to the Street” initiative, which leverages the company’s fleet of approximately 6,000 service vehicles to display posters of missing children from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). EMCOR’s efforts have aided in the recovery of more than 200 missing children since the inception of the program in 2005.

“Around 600 of our employees have chosen to also display the missing children’s posters on their personal vehicles, which speaks to our commitment to the program,” says Tony Guzzi, president and CEO of EMCOR Group, Inc.

According to Guzzi, the company also supports the U.S. military on several levels, including the EMCOR Troop Support Program, affiliations with U.S. military academies, and involvement in the Helmets to Hardhats initiative, which connects National Guard, Reserve and transitioning active-duty military members with career training and employment opportunities within the construction industry.

Additionally, the “EMCOR Pink Hard Hat Program”, supporting breast cancer awareness, involves thousands of company employees across its subsidiaries in the United States and United Kingdom wearing pink hard hats throughout the month of October as part of EMCOR’s “Protect Yourself” campaign.

“We also participate in the ACE Mentor Program, which aims to educate students throughout the nation about jobs in architecture, construction and engineering and provides mentoring to students interested in pursuing related careers,” adds Guzzi.
