IBE Consulting Engineers (IBE), one of the nation’s leading MEP engineering firms, has added Dawn Hollingsworth, LC, IALD, as director, lighting design.
“IBE Lighting Design is reinvigorated by the hiring of Dawn Hollingsworth as director,” says Alan Locke, P.E., founder and principal of IBE Consulting Engineers. “Her award-winning design skills and leadership experience will be an important part of the future of our lighting design department.”
Hollingsworth joins IBE after a more-than-20-year industry career, most recently as managing partner at Visual Terrain, Inc. She has garnered industry recognition for creating transformational lighting solutions for a wide range of civic, commercial, and private and public mixed-use projects. Hollingsworth was honored as the Architectural Lighting Designer of the Year by Lighting Dimensions International in 2000, in addition to winning numerous awards from the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
IBE Lighting Design is an in-house department that offers comprehensive interior and exterior lighting design services from earliest concept development through installation. While operating independently, the lighting department can draw on the resources and talents of IBE’s MEP engineers, LEED Accredited Professionals, and technology experts to create aesthetically sophisticated, high-performance, and technologically advanced architectural lighting schemes.
Hollingsworth is deeply committed to the design community through her involvement in industry organizations and teaching. She is a former Los Angeles section president of IES, past board member of IALD, and is currently on the Themed Entertainment Association Thea Awards Nominating Committee and is the Treasurer of the IALD Education Trust. Hollingsworth is registered by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) as a Lighting Certified (LC) professional and an American Institute of Architects (AIA) affiliate member. In addition to speaking at numerous national conferences, including the AIA Convention and Lightfair International, Hollingsworth has taught both theatrical and architectural lighting design at various Los Angeles-area universities, including Loyola Marymount University, University of Southern California, Woodbury University, and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and is currently an adjunct faculty member at Otis College of Art and Design.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Technical Production from the University of Oklahoma and an Master’s of Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
