Smart Power teaches importance of energy-efficient lighting in Anchorage

SATCO Products, Brentwood, N.Y., has joined forces with Chugach Electric Association and Municipal Light & Power, Anchorage, Alaska, to bring area residents an effective energy-efficiency and conservation program. The program, "Smart Power," serves more than 88,000 homes in the Anchorage area and is teaching residents the importance of energy-efficient lighting while generating savings of nearly $300,000 on homeowner utility bills in the first year.

The goal of Smart Power is to replace 70,000 incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs by 2010.
