In 2021, Arkansas dropped to No. 2 from its No. 1 position as the lowest-paying state for electrical engineers, which it held for three consecutive years, based on findings released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in its “Occupational Employment and Wages, May 2021 Study.” Montana took its spot as No. 1. Other notable changes include Ohio and Nevada falling out of the Top 5 rankings, with Mississippi and Wisconsin joining Montana, Arkansas, and Kansas (No. 3).
