As we look back on 2014, a handful of the most noteworthy national news stories of the year that inevitably come to mind come with a distinct element of tragedy.

As we look back on 2014, several of the most noteworthy national news stories that come to mind unfortunately come with a distinct element of tragedy — whether it’s the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the shooting of Michael Brown and riots in Ferguson, Mo., the beheading of hostages by ISIS militants, or the crisis between Russia and the Ukraine over control of the Crimean Peninsula.

Reflecting back on the last year of coverage for the electrical industry as a whole, EC&M tackled its share of hard-hitting issues in 2014 too — from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the danger PV panels present to firefighters to electric shock drownings and swimming pool shocks/electrocutions.
