LEDucation Announces Schedule for 2020 Virtual Event
The Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY) recently announced the full schedule of the LEDucation 2020 Virtual Trade Show and Conference, which is taking place on August 18 and 19. The virtual event will allow attendees to virtually view more than 250 exhibitors at no charge, as well as have access to a variety of accredited webinars, all with a focus on solid-state lighting (SSL).
The conference will host four comprehensive panel discussions on lighting controls, presented by specialists in the industry. Presentation topics include how technology and user expectations have changed the process of designing lighting controls, how to get controls to work, and more.
Four lighting design sessions will feature discussions on drivers, an analysis of two distinct visual worlds (illusion vs. allusion), the merging of digital and architectural spaces, and different approaches to design. For interior designers and students who would like to learn more about lighting, noted interior designer Charles Pavarini III will present an overview of LED technology.
The human-centric track will offer three sessions focused on how lighting impacts health and wellness, including circadian lighting, how color constancy plays a role in health, and how to bridge the gap between LEED and WELL.
The IoT/PoE/BT/Tech category will feature two sessions, one on wireless versus Power over Ethernet (PoE) and the second on the ins and outs of PoE technology.
In addition, there will be lighting code-related sessions on both the New York Stretch Code Standards and developments in emergency controls. Meanwhile, the outdoor lighting and facade/bridge lighting categories will offer information on outdoor pedestrian spaces, how lighting can turn structures into experiences, and lighting for the future urban night.
Women in Lighting + Design (WILD) will discuss navigating project management from design through commissioning, how to build a project powerhouse team, avoiding pitfalls, and how to strengthen one’s voice as a woman from any field in the design and construction industry.
Other presentations will include luminaire design and manufacturing and a case study of He’e Nalu—a light art installation inspired by waves.
Registration for the event is still open, and its full schedule is available to view on LEDucation’s website.
