Moving Violations Video No. 283: Problematic Panelboard

March 16, 2023
Russ inspects a panelboard with a number of violations.
Russ inspects a panelboard tucked away in a cluttered closet, which is a violation of Sec. 240.24(A). Even worse, the panel is designed for only twelve overcurrent devices, but there are too many installed within. This violates Sec. 408.54, which states that a panelboard shall have a physical means to prevent the installation of more overcurrent devices than the panel is rated for. Finally, because the extra breakers aren’t the right type for the panelboard, they’re a violation of Sec. 110.3(B).
