Moving Violations Video No. 287: Growing Pains

May 18, 2023
Russ shows us some liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) that's been run up a tree.

In this episode of Moving Violations, Russ shows us some liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) that's been run up a tree. Because of the tree's growth, part of the LFMC is broken, and sections have been "swallowed" by parts of the tree. However, despite the state of the LFMC, this installation does not violate the NEC. Section 225.26 prohibits the use of vegetation to support overhead conductors, but there is nothing in the Code that would prevent the type of installation shown in the video.
