Five More States Set to Adopt the 2014 NEC

Five states adopt 2014 NEC

It’s been a busy two weeks on the Code adoption front, as five states announced effective dates for use of the 2014 Edition of the NEC.

North Dakota — The North Dakota State Electrical Board voted to adopt the 2014 with an effective date of Sept. 1, 2014.

Minnesota — The Minnesota Board of Electricity has adopted the 2014 NEC, which will apply to all jobs permitted after July 1, 2014. In addition, all electrical license exams will now be based on the 2014 NEC.

New Mexico — The State of New Mexico, Department of Regulation and Licensing, Division of Construction Industries and Manufactured Housing adopted the 2014 NEC with an effective date of Aug. 1, 2014. Visit the state’s website to view the amendments, most of which were carried over from the 2011 version of the NEC.

Texas — The Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, adopted amendments to Chapter 73.100 of the Electricians Administrative Rules and established the 2014 NEC as the minimum standard for all electrical work covered by the Act in the state. The effective date is Sept. 1, 2014. In addition, all electrical license exams will now be based on the 2014 NEC.

Vermont — The state has adopted the 2014 NEC as of July 1, 2014.
