On Day 2 of the NECA Show in San Diego, members of the EC&M editorial staff stopped by the Eaton booth to recognize its KwikRail cable tray system for winning the overall platinum award in this year's Product of the Year competition. This product meets NEMA 12A and 12B requirements, can be modified on site, and reduces labor hours and installed cost. So far, the ease of installation and versatility of the system have impressed customers in vertical markets such as data centers, alternative energy sites, government projects, and hospital projects.
Representing the conduit, raceways & wireways category, the KwikRail cable tray system is designed to make the process of installing cable tray significantly faster and easier. With a tab-and-lock trapeze system and I-beam side rail splice retention groove, the product allows installers to easily guide the splice in place with two bolts, saving up to 80% on hardware and 75% on installation time, according to the company. Unlike conduit, the KwikRail cable tray system also allows for rapid modification in the field. Rungs can be added or removed from bolted straight sections (welded variant also offered). The cable tray system also includes multiple fittings and accessories to allow for future cable pathway expansion.
“A properly designed and installed cable tray system enables outstanding reliability for a facility’s control, communication, data, instrumentation, and power systems cabling and wiring," says Jim Cuzzupe, product line manager, cable tray systems (North America) for Eaton.

This year’s competition featured products introduced to the market between Jan. 1, 2023 and Dec. 31, 2023. A hand-picked panel of judges narrowed down the 123 entries to 30 category winners for the first phase of the competition. These category winners were then narrowed down to our three finalists through an online poll available to EC&M readers, who cast their votes to determine the three award-winning products.
Congratulations to Eaton for winning this year’s silver award. For more information, visit the company’s website.
