EMCOR/Dynalectric San Diego employees and those of UC San Diego Health System, Kitchell, and more — 650 people in all — donned EMCOR Pink Hard Hats and formed a giant human ribbon in a "Call to Action" supporting breast cancer awareness, part of EMCOR's "Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today” Campaign. The event was held at UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center.

Dynalectric San Diego is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., a Fortune 500 leader in mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and building services for a diverse range of businesses.  This is EMCOR’s 6th consecutive year raising awareness for breast cancer screening through its signature Pink Hard Hat Ribbon events. Through this October, EMCOR will be creating 6 giant human Pink Hard Hat events coast-to-coast in conjunction with its clients.

“We’re delighted to be participating in EMCOR’s 6th consecutive year of conducting this national initiative,” stated Philip Petersen, president & CEO, EMCOR/Dynalectric San Diego. “The enthusiasm for this program continues to grow, and we’ve received feedback regarding the positive impact our awareness efforts have had on decisions to go for a screening  we know EMCOR is making a difference. The majority of our field employees wear a hard hat everyday for personal protection, and we’re proud of their commitment to wear a Pink Hard Hat during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help raise awareness of this disease and the importance of screening."

Three other events took place at:

  • 201 Folsom Street in San Francisco on October 2
  • Alexandria Center for Life Science-NYC in New York, N.Y. on October 7
  • Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Ind. on October 9

Upcoming events will take place at:

  • Yale Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven, Conn. on October 15
  • EMCOR Customer Solutions Center in Phoenix on October 22

This year’s EMCOR Pink Hard Hat Ribbon signature events feature the largest ribbons to date. Additionally, thousands of EMCOR employees across the U.S. are wearing EMCOR Pink Hard Hats at scores of construction sites, ranging from hospitals, roadways, malls, and high tech companies, to universities, military bases, and hotels.

A “multiplier effect” will continue when thousands of passersby to EMCOR’s jobsites will see the Pink Hard Hats and when EMCOR employees will take the Pink Hard Hats home each night and be seen by spouses, daughters, sisters, neighbors. Also, EMCOR’s 7,000+ service vehicles will carry Pink Hard Hat posters with the “Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today” Message, reaching millions of people throughout October.
