As a founding partner and chief revenue officer of Weifield Group, Karla Nugent is responsible for the company’s business development, marketing and preconstruction in CO, TN, TX, and WY. Weifield has grown to over 900+ employees, has received the Denver Post Top Workplace award for ten years running, the USA Top Workplace annually since 2020 and is the first electrical contractor in the region to complete Net-Zero energy projects.

Karla promotes Weifield Group while passionately advocating for a better construction workforce and industry. She has been an innovator in workforce development and improving training for the next generation of construction workers. Karla has led Project SCALE – Scaling Construction Access for Learners and Earners. This Colorado state industry-led initiative has over 25 associations & businesses working to connect and cross map high school HBI construction curriculum into construction apprenticeships. These apprenticeship credits then cross maps into a newly created construction associate degree with CCCS.

She currently serves on the State of Colorado Workforce Development Council, Colorado Business Experiential-Learning (BEL) Commission, Colorado Business Roundtable Board of Directors (COBRT) – Executive Committee and serves as the Avista Hospital Trustee Board Vice Chair and Weifield Foundation Chair. Her deep commitment to philanthropy and her professional achievements led her to be recognized with many awards such as ‘AFP | Large Business Philanthropy Award’ and Colorado Chamber’s ‘Top 25 Most Powerful Women’, Denver Business Journal’s ‘Outstanding Women in Business’ award, CREW Denver’s ‘Emerging Iconic Woman’ award, Denver Business Journal Partners in Philanthropy’s ‘Corporate Citizen of the Year’ award, Denver Institute for Faith & Work’s ‘Tree of Life’ award, and Denver Business Journal’s ‘C-Suites’ award.
