For applications like office spaces where the light from LED fixtures is too bright, there is a new product to address this issue. The Level Set module from LED Dimming Solutions works with any LED fixture with a 0V to 10V input (common in commercial fixtures), and allows installers to determine the level the fixture goes to when it is turned on. According to the company, an installer can stock/purchase the higher power fixtures in a fixture line (50W versions, for example, instead of the 30W or 40W), which are usually the same price as the lower power models, and set the level as desired later. Then use this product to set the light for today’s needs while retaining the ability to increase or decrease lighting levels in the future. Regardless of the fixture power, the Level Set can be set to 50%, 65%, 80% or 100% anytime later. Another benefit is the fact that a fixture running at less than full power makes the LEDs and driver run much cooler, extending the life and eliminating maintenance and replacement costs. Setup does not require any additional wires or a change in the wall switch — a standard on-off wall switch is all that is needed.
