The gallery showcases the bottom-ranked cities in WalletHub's green city list, based on experts' rankings of the 100 biggest cities in the United States.

WalletHub recently released their annual ranking of the 100 largest cities in the United States, ranking them based on how well they promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle. They were ranked on 28 key “green” indicators, such as greenhouse gas emissions per capita, percentage of green space, percentage of commuters who drive vehicles, bike score, farmers markets per capita, number of smart energy policies, and more by WalletHub's experts.

In this photo gallery, we are going to take a look at the 10 cities that made up the bottom of the list. Four of the 10 least-green states hail from Arizona, with southern cities making up the rest — expect for a single outlier from the east coast. As you click through the slides, keep in mind that we have listed them in descending order from most to least green based on their ranking number.

To check out all 100 rankings, you can view WalletHub’s full report. You can also take a peek at the Top 10 greenest cities, which we highlighted in a past gallery.
