Two American Refining Group workers were injured this week while working on electrical equipment at the plant in Bradford, Penn. An arc flash occurred while they were doing routine work at the "crude unit," according to a report from the Bradford Era.
The plant is growing in size due to expanding electrical requirements at the refinery. The arc flash did not cause a fire, and one of the employees was able to radio for help.
An investigation is currently being conducted by the refinery’s in-house safety team to determine the root cause of the incident. Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) were also at the refinery following the incident to conduct their own investigation.
