An electrical problem caused a minor explosion in downtown Colorado Springs this morning. The explosion caused lights to flicker, and at least three buildings were partially evacuated, according to a report from the Gazette.
No fire was found and minimal damage, if any, was caused to cinder blocks surrounding an electrical vault.
The problem, according to the Gazette report, appeared to be on the P2 level of the garage, and power has been turned off in that area while investigators are working. Inspection revealed an electrical issue in Wells Fargo, Antlers Hilton and FirstBank, all on the same block. The problem is with equipment on the property owner's side, and is not a problem stemming from CSU, a spokesman from Colorado Springs Utilities said.
