Three manhole covers blew off in downtown Detroit this morning due to an underground electrical fire. Around 8 a.m. this morning, witnesses reported hearing an explosion, and one worker told WXYZ Detroit that he also saw manhole covers exploding out of the street. Fire officials confirm that three manhole covers did blow off.

The incident occurred at Fort Washington Plaza, and The Detroit News reported that a section of West Fort Street was closed at Cass Avenue, and that one office building was evacuated.

No injuries were reported, and utility crews were on the scene to determine the cause of the underground fire.
