Electrical Contractor Escapes Control Room Fire

An electrical contractor narrowly escaped unharmed before sparks ignited in the control room.

A fire in an electrical control room temporarily closed a Riverside, Calif., manufacturing plant. An electrical contractor narrowly escaped unharmed before sparks ignited in the control room, The Press Enterprise reported.

Light smoke was drifting up from the east side of the building when firefighters arrived. But a sprinkler system was containing the flames to the electrical room.

"An electrical contractor...reported hearing a sound coming from above the equipment, and (he) fled the room," according to the Battalion Chief's statement. "Seconds later, the electrical room experienced a large electrical arc, which led to the fire.
