One of two workers hurt in an electrical accident Monday at the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania has died. The construction workers were injured while worker from a scissor jack lift. The workers, employees of Omni Electric Co., were cutting electrical cables beneath the second story of an existing section of the mall.

According to reports, one of the two men cut into an energized 13,000V, 200A cable. The arcing wire created a small fire that was extinguished and a moderate smoke condition that was quickly remedied. The workers were performing a primary service relocation in the redevelopment area when the incident occurred, NBC10 reported.

Emergency crews found one man unresponsive on the ground, who later died at the hospital. The second worker was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A third worker was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Earlier in the week, Omni Electric released the following statement:

“The Union electrical contractor Omni Electric performing the last of four primary electrical service relocations over the past few weeks had an accident early this morning. Unfortunately one electrician was seriously injured. The electrical service to one of the areas of the mall was restored an hour later than originally planned as a result of the incident. Everyone at the mall and involved in the project are primarily focus on the injured individual and are hoping for a fast recovery. A full investigation is being undertaken to evaluate what occurred.”
