Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation Adopts New Administrative Rule

Adopted amendments to TAC §73.20 remove the restriction on the maximum number of hours of on-the-job experience electricians may earn in a year.
Dec. 27, 2019

As reported in a recent edition of the Daily Digest Bulletin, The Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) recently adopted amendments to an existing rule regarding the Electricians Program (16 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 73, §73.20).

The adopted rule removes the restriction on the number of hours of on-the-job experience an applicant for any electrical license may earn within a given year. Previously, under the existing rule, applicants could claim no more than 2,000 hours of on-the-job experience annually.

The adoption justification was published in the November 22, 2019, issue of the Texas Register (44 TexReg 7183). The updated rule chapter was made available upon its effective date of December 1, 2019.

For an explanation of this rule as well as justification for implementing it, read more on the organization’s website.
