National Technical Institute Expands Its Las Vegas Campus

April 28, 2022
Recent growth and the impending rollout of a new, innovative training program prompted the need for more space.

The National Technical Institute (NTI), a state-approved trade school specializing in electrical, HVACR, and plumbing training and certificates, is expanding its campus in metro Las Vegas due to growth and the anticipated rollout of a new, innovative program. The Henderson, Nev., campus will include a two-story building adjacent to its main building that will house portions of its HVAC and plumbing courses with additional, newly built labs and classrooms.

“When the pandemic started and jobs were lost due to the lockdown, many Las Vegans saw it as a chance to consider training for a new career in an essential field. This drove enrollment to unprecedented levels,” said Chris Roth, CEO and owner of NTI. “Fast forward to 2022, we are planning to launch a first-of-its-kind national program soon and need to prepare for an influx of students from all over the country. This new building will help to accommodate our existing students as well as those who will be enrolled in the new program.”

According to a recent survey by the Associated General Contractors of America, 89% of contractors were having a difficult time finding workers who were trained for the job. The Copper Development Association found more than one-half of trade professionals in the United States are close to retirement age, and Explore the Trades noted overall statistics forecasting three out of every four trade professionals will retire by the year 2030.

“The trades skills gap has continually increased over the years, with all industries impacted, making it a great time to learn a trade,” Roth said. “With many of our students hired before they even graduate, now is the perfect time to learn an essential trade.”

NTI fully prepares graduates to enter the workforce with high earnings potential. According to the U.S. Bureau Labor of Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, the average salary is $56,900 for electricians, $450,590 for HVAC installers and mechanics, and $56,330 for plumbers.

The school offers students practical skills in electrical, HVAC, and plumbing, with 30% of lecture learning and 70% hands-on lab learning. The HVAC Fusion Training Program consists of online classes and in-person training. To enroll, students must be 18 years or older and provide proof of high school graduation or equivalent. Contact admissions for more information on program start dates.
