Summary
Every electrician needs to not only be aware of the ongoing arc flash exposure they see every day on the job site but also know how to mitigate their personal risk. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) personal protective equipment (PPE) guidance released last fall was a step in the right direction of further protecting workers against this significant job hazard. This webinar will explore that OSHA guidance and tie it into the requirements of NFPA 70E®, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®, specifically looking at how the roles of both employers and employees can help to help minimize the amount of risk that workers are exposed to daily on the job. It will also take a look at holistic electrical safety through the lens of the NFPA® Electrical Cycle of Safety and discuss how meeting the requirements of NFPA 70E is nearly impossible to accomplish without also using the requirements of NFPA 70B, Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance.
Attendees will:
- Receive an overview of the OSHA Arc Flash Guidance that was released in the fall of 2024 and how it impacst both electricians and electrical contractors. It isn’t a requirement, or is it?
- Learn about two OSHA identified fallacies regarding energized electrical work.
- Gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of both employers and employees as it relates to NFPA 70E.
- Become introduced to the NFPA Electrical Cycle of Safety.
- Understand how using NFPA 70B can help ensure that the requirements of NFPA 70E are being met.
