What’s Wrong Here? Hint: Hidden Door Prize
Hint: hidden door prize
Here’s another great submission from one of readers. Brandon Spivey, owner of Event Horizon & Services in Nashville, Tenn., shared this photo with us. According to Spivey, “This was inside a wall above a door.” Burying splices in a wall is a big no-no! Section 300.15 requires a box or conduit body to be installed at conductor splice points where the wiring method is conduit, tubing, Type AC cable, Type MC cable, Type MI cable, nonmetallic-sheathed cable, or other cables. Even for temporary wiring installations, Sec. 590.4(G) requires splices to be installed in a box or conduit body except under specific conditions on construction sites. You may also notice a hole where the green wire passes through the other side of the wall. Openings into or through fire-resistant-rated walls, partitions, floors, or ceilings are required to be fire-stopped with approved methods to maintain the fire resistance rating of the assembly.
