Location: Nobilesville, Ind.
Age: 29
Years on the Job: 9
Interests: Camping, mountain biking, kayaking, visiting new places, and being outdoors
Born in Venezuela, Pedro Salas has a dad, brothers, an uncle, and a best friend who all work in the electrical trade. One day, his childhood friends invited him to work as a helper on a project, which paved the way for his entry into the industry.
“After my first project, I learned from the old journeyman’s advice, and I projected myself to be a good construction professional,” he said. “I also love to fix complex situations. It’s what keeps you excited every day.”
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in advertising and public relations from Rafael Belloso Chacín University. Once he moved to the United States, he began earning construction professional certifications and his journeyman license in three states.
He said training was the key to his success, and his empirical and academic experience aligned to make him a better leader.
“Understanding crews and providing solutions is a must for success,” he said. “I am always looking forward to staying in the loop with the innovation process. The use of AI and construction lean principles is in demand, and I will take any course or advice that can help me grow.”
As an electrical construction field supervisor, he reviews the day’s permits, reviews projected tasks, and plans his day. He then does a stretch-and-flex with the field team and ensures they have everything they need before returning to the office for meetings.
“My key responsibilities are mainly keeping operations on track,” he said. “I make sure our installations are performed to quality standards and completed safely, with all employees coming back home safe. Troubleshooting and working with amazing professionals is a big part of what I do.”
Gaylor Electric works nationwide with several current projects, including data centers, stadiums, industrial complexes, and more. He is now actively involved in leading a major manufacturing and research pharmaceutical project.
“I’m helping to build America one project at a time,“ he said. “In the future, I will continue leading complex projects that improve communities and industries around the world. Through continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration with exceptional construction professionals, I hope to leave a lasting impact on the future of the construction industry.”
