• NECA sets up New York City Chapter Relief Fund; national headquarters donates $30,000

    NECA´s Executive Committee approved a $30,000 contribution to the disaster relief fund Oct. 21 during their meeting at the Annual Convention in Washington, D.C. The New York City Chapter of NECA created the New York City Chapter Disaster Relief Fund to provide assistance to the families and children of the 16 NECA member employees who lost their lives in the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center.

    NECA´s Executive Committee approved a $30,000 contribution to the disaster relief fund Oct. 21 during their meeting at the Annual Convention in Washington, D.C.

    The New York City Chapter of NECA created the New York City Chapter Disaster Relief Fund to provide assistance to the families and children of the 16 NECA member employees who lost their lives in the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center.

    "Overall, NECA has raised and donated nearly $500,000 for various relief funds," said NECA President D.R. Borden at the convention´s Second General Session.

    "The outpouring of gifts and generosity was overwhelming," said New York City Chapter President Edward Dougherty, Sr. "The day after the disaster checks and phone calls started coming in. People were calling to see if we were OK. It was touching. Words can´t describe the feeling. It makes me proud to be a part of this organization."
