In 2021, California topped the list for the highest-paying states for electrical engineers, bumping District of Columbia (No. 1 in 2020) down one spot to No. 2, based on data from the “Occupational Employment and Wages, May 2021 Study,” released from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Other notable changes include Vermont and New Jersey falling out of the rankings completely, with Maryland and Massachusetts making their way into the Top 5.
Here is a look at the top five highest-paying states for electrical engineers, listed in descending order. It's important to keep in mind that these rankings do not take cost of living into consideration.
