Philadelphia Begins Transition to LED Streetlights
According to a recent report from WPVI-TV 6ABC Action News in Philadelphia, the city is beginning to move forward with a plan to convert its current high-pressure sodium streetlights to LED technology. Approximately 8,500 lights had been converted to LEDs in recent years, but the city plans to pick up the pace by seeking to replace the city’s remaining 100,000-plus fixtures. The retrofit is expected to save the city $5 to $6 million annually.
