Lighting Retrofit Transforms Store’s Shopping Experience

Vermont Flannel recently selected Prolume, a professional lighting company based in Randolph, Vt., to perform a lighting retrofit to help transform the shopping experience inside its flagship retail store in Woodstock, Vt.

Mark and Linda Baker, store owners, understand lighting’s ability to render the color of merchandise and enhance a customer’s shopping experience. They both viewed a lighting retrofit as an opportunity to improve their customer’s experience and influence purchasing decisions.

Prolume collaborated with the owners to modernize the lighting while enhancing the store’s rustic motif. Linear LED fixtures were used along the perimeter of the store to highlight the store’s historic tin ceiling and canvas portraits. Meanwhile, linear LED downlight fixtures were installed directly over the clothing racks, which enabled them to be hidden customer shields. They help eliminate glare and blend the fixtures into the existing structure.

“Our customers now shop in our store for longer periods of time since the new lighting was installed,” says Linda Baker.
