In this episode, Ellen Parson, editor-in-chief of EC&M, sat with Corrie VerBraken, P.E., and Bertha Prieto Torres, P.E., both engineering managers with Rosendin Electric in San Jose, Calif., to talk about women in engineering and what it’s like to succeed in a male-dominated industry.

Prieto graduated from San Jose State University in 2004 with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 2013, she came to work for Rosendin. A few months later, Prieto Torres received a P.E. in electrical engineering. Her current capacity is engineering team lead, where her group works mostly on commercial and high-rise properties.

VerBraken has been at Rosendin for 11 years, most recently as director of engineering at its San Jose office. She also served as a project engineer working on electrical engineering and lighting design, and at an MEP consulting engineering firm.
