The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Convention and Trade Show — at one of the most important industry events of the year — is almost here. From October 4-7, thousands of electrical professionals will gather at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas to network, attend educational sessions, and walk the trade show floor.

Here is a preview of what attendees can look forward to at this year’s event:

Celebrate 125 Years of NECA

EC&M isn’t the only one turning 125 this year! The National Electrical Contractors Association is celebrating 125 years at this year’s trade show. To commemorate the milestone, NECA is offering an interactive anniversary experience that “will take attendees on a journey through time, highlighting the evolution of the electrical contracting industry and NECA’s pivotal role in shaping it.” Attendees can explore curated displays that feature historical documents, vintage marketing materials, important milestone projects, and photographs from the archives. Attendees will also be able to scan QR codes at each unique booth to unlock exclusive digital content and collect pieces of a special end-of-exhibit compilation.

Session Speakers

Once again, NECA has assembled a prolific group of guests. The show will have speaker sessions with Hall of Fame football coach Nick Saban, tennis champion Andre Agassi, and 2016 Paralympic bronze medalist Melissa Stockwell.

Nick Saban will be speaking at the opening general session on Monday, October 5 from 10 am – 11:30 am. Andre Agassi will be speaking at the Tuesday general session on Tuesday, October 6 from 10 am – 11:30 am. Lastly, Melissa Stockwell will be speaking at the closing general session on Wednesday, October 7 from 1:15 pm – 2:30 pm.

Opening Reception

Attendees can kick off the show through The Power of Connection. This year’s opening reception at T-Mobile Arena promises a gathering where energy, excitement, and inspiration come together. The event will have multiple levels that offer exciting experiences, food, and live music.

The opening reception is on Sunday, October 4 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, with an after party from 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

Closing Reception and Musical Guests

NECA is ending this year’s show with a party to remember at the Mandalay Bay Beach — an exciting location with a wave pool, 2,700 tons of real sand, and a concert stage. The event will have live entertainment, food, drinks, and immersive experiences. Musical guests for the evening are multi-platinum rock band +LIVE+ and O.A.R. A live DJ will also provide music sets during the night.

Apprentice Appreciation Day

The always popular apprentice event returns! This year, apprentices can attend special sessions and hear from leadership expert and founder of NicBittle.com, Nic Bittle, and Mike Holt, founder of Mike Holt Enterprises. Attendees can also take part in an experience with industry social media influencers and have the chance to be featured on a live podcast.

Skill challenges also return, including the NEC Escape Room Challenge. This popular event will test apprentices on their knowledge and skills with a series of puzzles that require a strong understanding of the NEC. So, to all the apprentices out there, start brushing up on your Code knowledge!

High Voltage Village

New on the show floor is the High Voltage Village, an experience designed for outside line apprentices and those who are passionate about the future of linework. This zone offers:

• Hands-on demos with the latest tools and technology
• A front-row seat to the innovations shaping outside line work
• Networking opportunities with peers and leaders from across the country

Pause for Paws

A favorite of the EC&M editors, Pause for Paws is back. Take a break on the show floor and spend time with some puppies from the PAWsitive Difference animal shelter.
