Shock Hazard Prompts Recall of LED Lamps Sold at Habitat for Humanity

Dec. 7, 2016
The lamps may overheat and expose a heat-sink and wires, posing a shock hazard.

Technical Consumer Products (TCP) is recalling roughly 39,000 LED lamps sold exclusively at a California Habitat for Humanity due to an electric shock hazard.

The affected lamps can overheat, exposing an energized heat-sink and wires. This poses an electrical shock hazard.

The recalled products include 10-watt LED A-19 Shape lamps sold under the TCP brand. The lamps are white and produce a soft white color temperature. The affected lamps have item number LED10A19DODLCHP as well as the date code printed on the white plastic heat-sink, located just above the screw in the lamp’s base. The lamps have UPC 7-6214804626-4 and date code 1423217. In order to check the item number and date code, consumers will have to shut off power to the lights and disengage the lamp.

The lamps were sold exclusively at the Habitat for Humanity of San Joaquin County in Stockton, California, from August 2016 until September 2016 for roughly $3.

Consumers are urged to stop using the affected lamps immediately, shut off the power to the lights, and contact the company to receive instructions on how to obtain either a refund or a free replacement lamp.

Consumers with questions can reach TCP at (800) 324-1496.
