Have you ever wondered where your city stacks up in terms of compensation for electricians? We have compiled the list of the Top 10 highest-paying cities based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in its Occupational Employment and Wage Study from May 2025.

It should come as no surprise that many of the cities are from the highest-paying states for electricians, although a few may be somewhat more unexpected — like the several cities spotting this list hailing from California, which didn't make the Top 5 highest-paying states in 2025.

1. The highest-paying city in the whole of the United States is the San Fransisco-Oakland-Fremont, Calif., metro, which pays on average $49.85 hourly and $103,690 annually to electricians.
2. Mount Vernon-Anacortes, Wash., is the No. 2 highest-paying city, offering electricians an annual mean salary of $103,040 and hourly mean wage of $49.54. 
3. Coming in third place is the Porland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, Ore.-Wash., area, with an hourly mean wage of $49.53 and annual mean wage of $103,030.
4. The third of four Washington cities takes the No. 4 spot. On average, electrician working in Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, Wash., can expect to see $47.94 hourly and $99,720 yearly. 
5. The No. 5 spot goes to another California metro, San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, Calif., with an annual mean wage of $99,650 and hourly mean wage of $47.91. 
6. Salem, Ore., is the No. 6 highest-paying city, which offers electricians an average of $45.66 hourly and $94,980 yearly. 
7. The first city on this list to not come from one of the Top 5 highest-paying states is Trenton-Princeton, N.J. Electricians working here earn an annual mean wage of $94,820 and hourly mean wage of $45.59. 
8. The No. 8 ranked city on this list is Honolulu, Hawaii, with an average hourly wage of $45.47 and yearly salary of $94,570.
9. Kahului-Wailuku, Hawaii takes the penultimate spot on this list. The average hourly wage for electricians here is $45.31 and average annual wage of $94,240. 
10. The final Washington-based metro on this rankings list is Kennewick-Richland, Wash., where electricians can see an hourly mean wage of $45.24 and annual mean wage of $94,100.
