Explanation: In the 2020 NEC, the title of Sec. 422.16(B)(4) was revised to “Range Hoods and Microwave Oven/Range Hood Combinations.” This section of the Code permits cord and plug connection with the following conditions:
- Length of cord is 18 in. to 48 in.
- Receptacle is located to protect cord against physical damage.
- Receptacle is supplied by an individual branch circuit.
- Receptacle is accessible.
- Cord contains an equipment grounding conductor terminated in a grounding type attachment plug (unless appliance is identified as "Double Insulated").
