May 11, 2023

Hint: Exterior ENT fail

Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing (ENT) cannot be installed in locations exposed to the direct rays of the sun. Section 362.12(7) prohibits this type of exterior installation unless the ENT is identified as being sunlight resistant. The lack of any securing and supporting for this ENT is a violation of Sec. 362.30. ENT must be securely fastened at intervals not exceeding 3 ft, and within 3 ft of each box, cabinet, fitting, or other raceway termination in accordance with Sec. 362.30(A). This raceway is simply flopping all over the side of this building with absolutely zero supports or securement. Using ENT with PVC conduit fittings may not be a violation if the correct fittings and solvent glue are used. Section 362.48 permits these joints between raceway and fittings to made be in an approved manner.
