PV installation will provide power needs for new 250,000 sq-ft garage

San Jose, Calif.-based www.Rosendin.com recently announced the start of construction of a new 250,000 sq-ft parking structure for the Metrolink Station in Tustin, Calif., including a photovoltaic (PV) power system.

Rosendin Electric’s La Palma office will be responsible for the electrical installation of the new parking structure. The Rosendin Electric Solar Division will install the PV canopy, which will provide shade for the rooftop parking level, and will deliver almost 85kW of AC power. The solar energy system is expected to have an annual output rating of approximately 166,000 kilowatt hours, which should be more than enough to offset the parking structure’s lighting requirements and other electrical demands.

“Rosendin Electric’s Solar Division continues to attract new projects because of our reputation for innovation, delivering solar projects on time at a competitive price” says David Lincoln, division manager, solar operations, for Rosendin Electric. “Solar power is clearly the future, and Rosendin Electric continues to prove that commercial use of solar power is cost-effective as well as environmentally friendly.”

The $12.3-million, six-story parking structure will have 732 parking stalls, which is twice the number of spaces in the existing open-air lot. Bomel Construction Company of Anaheim Hills, Calif., is the prime contractor, and Watry Design of Redwood City, Calif., will serve as architect and structural engineer.
